A procedure for reducing the duration of an emergency stop at the core of a nuclear reactor that is controlled by means of mobile control rods, in which: the conditions of the core are simulated while the reactor is running, based on Selected control bars and the degrees of insertion selected from them, the simulation produces a duration of the emergency stop, and depending on the result of the simulation, the selected bars move in the core, so the resulting configuration is such that the speed at which the energy would be diminished in the nucleus increases, in case of an emergency stop.
