A procedure for planning packet transmissions, for use in providing packet communication services to wireless subscriber client devices through a hybrid network having a wired part and a wireless part, the procedure comprising: determining a allocation of time for the supply of each respective packet through a combination of the wired and wireless parts of the network to each of a plurality of the wireless subscriber client devices; register a respective time marker indicating the time of entry into the network for each packet; route packets through the wired part of the network to the wireless part of the network, using a first planning algorithm; route packets through the wireless part of the network using a second planning algorithm different from the first planning algorithm; with respect to a point in the wired network or a point in the wireless network before the transmission of packets via wireless link to respective wireless subscriber client devices, subtract a difference between the arrival time of each packet at the point before the wireless link transmission and the entry time indicated by the respective time stamp, of the allocation of time for the package, to compute a slack time representing a remaining amount of the time allocation for the supply of each respective package from said package point through the network to one of the wireless subscriber client devices; and at that point, reorder at least two of the packets destined for different wireless subscriber client devices for routing according to at least one of the planning algorithms, based on the slack times computed for said at least two packets of such This will allow the provision of packets destined to different wireless subscriber client devices before the expiration of the respective timing allocations.
