A decoding method of unvoiced segments of speech, comprising: retrieving (606) a group of quantized gains using received indices associated with a plurality of subframes; generating (608) a signal comprising random noise associated random number to each of the plurality of subframes; selecting (608) a predetermined random numbers greater signal amplitude random noise associated with each of the plurality of subframes percentage; scaling (610) the random number selected by the broader recovered gains associated with each sub-frame to produce a random noise signal adjusted scale. filtering (612) and forming a bandpass signal adjusted scaled random noise; and selecting (616) a second filter based on a filter selection indicator and further shaping the received signal adjusted scaled random noise with the selected filter.
