Procedure and apparatus for manufacturing an edge or a collar that has a complex structure on raw metal parts

A method for manufacturing an edge or collar (18 ") at the open end of a metal container (10) closed at the other end and suitable for forming a bottle that can be closed by a stopper, including this procedure in sequence: - a first operative stage of deformation of the basically cylindrical upper end portion (12) of said metal container (10), thus turning it outward so that a collar (18) with a basically circular cross-section is obtained; - at least a second stage intermediate deformation of said collar (18 '), tightening it in the radial direction and stretching it towards the bottom of the metal container (10); - a third final deformation stage to give said collar (18 ") a complex ovoidal profile, by which said profile becomes apt to allow the application of at least two caps of different types, characterized in that all the mentioned deformation stages are achieved in a parato comprising at least one edging mandrel (22) and at least one rolling mandrel (24), rotating and intervening both sequentially on the metal container.
