Fire protection device (5) for cable (1) or similar engineering or civil engineering work, of the type comprising a mattress of thermally insulating material wrapped around the cable or the like, characterized by the fact that it comprises: - at least one inner mattress (6) capable of being wrapped around the cable; - means (8) for maintaining the inner mattress around the cable; and - an outer mattress (9) capable of being wrapped around the inner mattress (6) with a covering area (10) between the two longitudinal edges of the outer mattress, this covering area being able to be fixed by gluing by means of a layer of thermally resistant glue (11).
