Device and method for performing tests that determine the breaking mechanism on rock samples using cutting discs (21). The displacement of the cutting blade (21) on the rock sample follows a curved path equal or proportional to a disc coupled cut in the cutting head of a tunnel boring machine on the working face of a rock mass. With the use of two disks (21) simultaneously the influence of the interaction of cracks induced by each disc is also checked. # Of application in sectors that are designed, produced or used devices that use cutting discs for rock excavation, such as the TBM in order to help better optimization of underground excavation thanks to the previous analysis of the mechanism of rock breakage.
