The present invention is directed to a process for clonallyexpanding T cells of unknown specificity which comprises co-culturingsaid T cells of unknown specificity withcombinatorial randomized peptide library, Xn, aninterleukin, and MHC class II antigen-expressing cells withDNA synthesis being suspended, said cells being derivedfrom the individual where said T cells are obtained, andoptionally in the presence of anti-CD29 antibody having anagonist activity. A process for identifying a peptideligand recognized by said T cell clone of unknownspecificity is also provided.
