METAL COMPLEXES COMPRISING A 2,6-DIACYLPYRIDINE-LIGAND AND THEIR USE IN THE POLYMERIZATION OF ETHYLENE

Organometallic complex having the formula (IAP)M(X)n which can be used for theformation of catalytic systemswherein: M is a metal selected from transition metals and lanthanides, inoxidation state "s" positive and different from zero; eachX is independently a group of an anionic nature bound to the metal as an anionin an ionic couple or with a covalent bond of the "6"type; "n" expresses the number of X groups sufficient for neutralizing theformal "+s" charge of the metal M, and (IAP) represents aneutral bond consisting of a mono-imine of 2,6-diacylpyridine. Said complex isprepared with relatively simple methods and can beused, combined with a suitable co-catalyst, such as for example, analuminoxane, as catalyst in normal (co)polymerization processesof .alpha.-olefins, and especially ethylene.
