The present invention relates in part to isolated nucleic acid molecules(polynucleotides) which encode Rhipicephalus sanguineus glutamate gatedchloride channels. The present invention also relates to recombinant vectorsand recombinant hosts which contain a DNA fragment encoding R. sanguineusglutamate gated chloride channels, substantially purified forms ofassociatedR. sanguineus glutamate gated chloride channels and recombinantmembrane fractions comprising these proteins, associated mutant proteins, andmethods associated with identifying compounds which modulate associatedRhipicephalus sanguineus glutamate gated chloride channels, which will beuseful as insecticides.
