The present invention relates to the use of midostaurin, in free form or inpharmaceutically acceptable salt form in the manufacture of a pharmaceuticalcomposition for the treatment of gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and to amethod of treatment of warm-blooded animals, preferably humans, in which atherapeutically effective dose of midostaurin is administered to an animalsuffering from said disease or condition.
