The present invention relates to a motion recognition apparatus and method for correcting a golf swing tempo, said apparatus comprising: a user interface unit for inputting a user's operating command; a sensor unit for sensing the user's movement to output a position signal; a memory unit for storing a tempo sound for each club and swing tempo phase; a sound generation unit for outputting the tempo sound stored in the memory unit; a display unit for displaying information to the user; a main body unit for providing a space for mounting an element of the motion recognition apparatus for correcting a golf swing tempo; and a control unit for controlling the operation of the element of the motion recognition apparatus for correcting a golf swing tempo, wherein the control unit selects the tempo sound which is predetermined by a user from the tempo sounds already stored in the memory unit to output the tempo sound through the sound generation unit when receiving the position signal from the sensor unit.
