The present invention relates to a method for predicting time-evolution of object streams, in particular of a plurality of pedestrians, comprising the steps of identifying parameters for the behaviour of a plurality of individual moving objects, generating a simulation model for the behaviour of the plurality of objects including the identified parameters wherein said simulation model comprises a group simulation model for simulating at least one group, wherein a group comprises at least two individual moving objects, and wherein at least one group is spatially deformable over time and comprises a time stable cohesion, simulating the behaviour according to said simulation model, and interpreting the simulated behaviour. The present invention relates also to a corresponding device and a corresponding use of a device.
