The invention relates to the field of receiving electromagnetic, optical, acoustic and hydroacoustic signals. The method for increasing signal-to-noise level in the spatial selection of signals is characterized in that a "disturbance damping principle" is used to extract information from a mixture of signal and noise in which the noise level is greater than the signal level. Said principle comprises the operation of summing the signals mixed with the noise and received at spatially distributed points, and requires the preliminary synchronization of the signals according to the arrival time of the wave front.
