BAMBOO ORIENTED STRAND BOARD AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A bamboo oriented strand board and method for manufacturing the same are provided. The method includes: (a) cutting the bamboo stalks (4) into sections (6), and splitting each section (6) into 3-12 arc blanks (8) in the radial direction; (b) removing the outer and inner parts (10,11) of the arc blanks (8) by a thicknesser; (c) shaving the blanks removed the outer and inner parts (10,11) into strips (14) with the thickness of 0.1-0.3mm in the chordwise or substantially chordwise direction; (d) applying glue to the strips (14) after drying, and directionally spreading. The strips have the advantages of large width, shatter-resistance, good flatten characteristic and easy glue application. Therefore, mechanical strength of the bamboo oriented strand board is 1.5-1.6 times as much as that of the bamboo oriented strand board manufactured by radial chips.
