Disclosed are a nonlinear optical crystal of potassium chloroborate, and the production methods and uses thereof. The chemical formula of the crystal is K3B6O10Cl. The crystal without a symmetric center belongs to trigonal system with a space group of R3m and crystal lattice parameters including a=10.0624(14)Å,b=10.0624(14)Å,c=8.8361(18)Å,Z=3,V=774.8(2)Å3. The crystal exhibits a powder frequency-doubling effect 3 times as much as that of KDP (KH2PO4) and Mohs hardness of 4-5 as well as light transmission wave ranges of 165nm-3460nm. The compound of potassium chloroborate is prepared by solid phase reaction, and its nonlinear optical crystal is grown by flux method. The production method of crystal is simple and economical. The resulting crystal exhibits big size, short growth period, few wrappage and relatively high mechanical hardness, and it is apt to cut, machine, polish and store. Therefore, it can be used to produce resonant light wave outputs of duple, triple, quadruple or quintuple double-frequencies with regard to a laser beam with 1064nm wavelength.
