The invention relates to a novel method and to a novel device for machining materials having thermal conductivity equal to or less than that of the known titanium alloys. For this purpose, according to the present invention parts of the workpiece are heated shortly before processing by electromagnetic induction, in particular also at various frequencies and using a plurality of inductors.
