The sensor has an input screen scintillator (1) comprising a substrate (3) with a side covered by a luminescent material layer (4). The layer has a side in contact with the substrate and another side including needles (5) separated by interstices (7). The layer produces detection radiations (10, 11) emerging via respective ends of the needles when a probe radiation penetrates into the layer through the substrate, where the needles are covered from its base to the tip with a film of a coating material (9) which partially absorbs the detection radiation (11). An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating an image sensor.
