Manually actuated press (10) having an actuating member (18) which is coupled to a shaft (22) and the actuation of which is converted into a stroke movement (30) of a press ram (32) coupled to the shaft (22) and therefore also changes a relative position of the press ram (32), and having a coupling (44; 54) for interrupting a force flow between the actuating member (18) and the press ram (32), characterized in that the shaft (22, 50) is designed in at least two pieces, to be precise with at least one input shaft (22) and an output shaft (50), and in that the coupling (54) is arranged in such a way that it separates the input shaft (22) and the output shaft (50) from one another as a function of the press force and/or the relative position of the press ram (32).
