Provided is an information processing device (10) that stores, in a registry file storage area (17c), the path for a resident program selection module as information specifying a program to be started at startup. At startup the information processing device (10) reads the resident program selection module from a module storage area (17b) using the information stored in a registry file. Then the information processing device (10) makes the resident program selection module select a resident program to reside in a work area from among a plurality of resident programs stored in a resident program storage area (17a), according to what the information processing device (10) is to be used for after startup. The information processing device (10) then controls the resident program selection module such that said module expands the selected resident program module in the work area.
