The invention addresses the problem of, even when the relative position shift between a cell in a magazine and an accessor is large, enabling a recording medium to be normally moved (fetched/stored) with respect to the cell.A library device comprises: a magazine provided with a plurality of cells for storing recording media; and an accessor to be positioned at a position facing a target cell in the magazine and used for fetching a recording medium from the cell or storing a recording medium into the cell. In the library device, the accessor has first and second position correcting means for positioning itself at a position facing a cell, and when the first position correcting means fails to position the accessor at the position facing the cell, the second position correcting means performs positioning to the cell.
