A method of manufacturing dual-metal brake drum with high rigidity and light weight, comprises the following steps : (a) blanking upon steel plate; (b) punching; (c) spinning: spin the periphery of the semi-finished product made by the previous step into a cylindrical outer-ring composed of protruding rings; (d) roll spinning: spin several uniformly distributed inner recesses on the inner wall of the protruding rings of the semi-finished product; (e) casting: cast the cast-iron-made liner in the semi-finished product using centrifugal casting; (f) heat processing: eliminate the inner stress and make the rigidity of the cast-iron-made liner satisfy the requirements of the brake drum; (g) finish machining. The advantages are that: the rigidity of the connection between the cast-iron-made liner and the steel-made shell is higher and the brake moment can be directly conducted there between, rather than using fasteners like rivets or bolts to assemble the outer-ring of the brake drum and the liner, thus avoiding the sliding between the outer-ring and the liner and the stress centralization.
