The present invention relates to a system for taking existing data, previously handled exclusively by computers, and making said data accessible to users in the field via mobile terminals (PDAs, smartphones, etc.) The present invention relates to a system for conducting secure transactions between a user using a mobile terminal (PDA, smartphone, etc.) and a plurality of distributed, heterogeneous data sources. The system comprises methods capable of, inter alia, solving the problem of integrating a plurality of heterogeneous data sources in a single IS (information system). The present system includes three parties. The Client, which is a software application for a mobile telephone installed on the mobile terminal of the user of the system, enabling the user to be authenticated, send requests, and read the responses. The core of the system is referred to as the control centre. Said centre consists of a set of software and hardware platforms required for the correct operation of all the services the system offers. The control centre plays the role of the sole, inevitable intermediary between the client and the data sources, concentrating all the traffic, executing the requests of correctly authenticated clients, and sending the results to the latter. Finally, the system includes a data-providing agent located on the same local area network as the target-data source and capable of solving the problem of integrating various distributed, heterogeneous data sources, thus giving the user of the system the impression of using a single, heterogeneous system. The system is supervised internally within the control centre by administrators with various levels of hierarchy. The data-providing agent is controlled by the administrator of the database to which it has access, which increases the security and the level of reliability among the various components of said system.
