The device (10) has a support element (20) for receiving elements of guardrail. A fastening element (30) fastens the support element at a wall (60). The support element has through holes for receiving the fastening element in a direction of extension, where the through holes are spaced at a distance from each other. A spacer element (31) and an outer holding element (33), which are designed as nuts, are fixed at the fastening element such that the spacer and the holding elements intermediately clamps the support element, where distance of the support element to the wall is adjustable. An independent claim is also included for a guardrail with a rail protection device.
