An RF cavity comprises a chamber with an electrically conducting wall and a first drive apparatus with a plurality of first solid-state switches, which are arranged along a circumference of the wall. In this case, each first solid-state switch is designed to couple an electrical current into the wall. Furthermore, the RF cavity comprises a second drive apparatus with a plurality of second solid-state switches, which are arranged along the circumference of the wall. In this case, every second solid-state switch is also designed to couple an electrical current into the wall. In addition, the second drive apparatus is oriented in parallel with the first drive apparatus.
