A method (10) of providing a blade count of a rotating bladed target comprises: a. obtaining a baseband complex time domain radar signal comprising returns from a rotating bladed target (12); b. calculating a power cepstrum of the baseband complex time domain radar signal (14); c. selecting a highest power peak and a second highest power peak in the power cepstrum (16); d. determining a periodicity of each of the highest power peak and the second highest power peak (18); e. calculating a ratio of the periodicities to form a blade count (20); and f. generating a blade count signal indicative of the blade count (22).
