A belt conveyor (1) for a long-distance conveyor system comprises a conveyor belt (2), on which cross-beams (4) are fastened, which are disposed behind each other in the longitudinal direction. Said cross-beams carry rotatably supported rollers (3). For the lateral delimitation of the conveyor belt (2), lateral walls are disposed on the conveyor belt. The lateral walls (5) at the conveyor belt ends thereof are each configured such that they transition into a base part (6). The base part (6) in each case is positively inserted into the carrier-side rubber cover plate (9) of the conveyor belt (2).
