The present invention relates to an electric insulating oil testing method for determining whether or not an inhibitor-consuming substance is contained in an electric insulating oil, wherein the inhibitor-consuming substance is a substance that can cause the reduction over time in concentration of an inhibitor that is added to the electric insulating oil for the purpose of inhibiting the production of copper sulfide on an insulating paper immersed in the electric insulating oil, and wherein the electric insulating oil is stored under predetermined conditions, the concentration of the inhibitor in the electric insulating oil is measured, and it is determined that the inhibitor-consuming substance is present when the amount of reduction in concentration of the inhibitor relative to the initial concentration of the inhibitor reaches a certain amount or more within a predetermined period.
