The invention relates to a projectile (1) comprising a subcaliber penetrator (2) having a conical stabilizer (4) and a substantially disk-shaped drive element (7; 7'), the conical stabilizer (4) having a frusto-conical cut-out section (5) that is open to the rear. The aim of the invention is to devise a projectile (1) the drive element (7; 7') of which is connected to the penetrator (2) without play when normally handled and during firing, the drive element (7; 7') detaching from the penetrator (2) in a trouble-free manner once it has left the weapon barrel. The drive element (7; 7') according to the invention is preferably connected to the penetrator (2) via a screw connection (projectile fastening bolt 100). A screw element (9; 9') connecting the drive element (7; 7') and the penetrator in the area of the stabilizer (4) has a bore (20; 23), open to the rear, into which propellant gases can penetrate when the projectile (1) is fired, said gases causing the screw element (9; 9') to break, thereby effecting a separation of the drive element (7; 7') from the penetrator (2).
