This invention concerns a device for positron emission tomography with time of flight and whole body scanning. It is essentially characterized in that it comprises - A tomograph with: - An internal structure of at least four modules placed polygonally around the tomograph axis, each composed of at least one individual detector (RPC);- Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) as gamma photon detectors; Means of electronic readout coupled to both axial ends of the tomograph inside the modules; and - Incorporating a readout method.
