The present invention provides a field permanent magnet to be used in a rotor of a rotating electrical machine, said field permanent magnet being a combination of two or more types of permanent magnets having different properties. The field permanent magnet is divided into three or more portions in the width direction thereof, a permanent magnet (A) having high coercive force being used for the portion centering around the d-axis, which is the center axis of the field permanent magnet, and permanent magnets (B) having coercive force lower than that of the permanent magnet (A) but a high residual flux density being used away from the d-axis. By adopting such hybrid magnets using two types of permanent magnets having different properties, the amount of expensive high coercive-force magnets to be used can be reduced, cost can be reduced, and conservation of resources can be achieved.
