The method involves detecting information (206) attached to a postal package by a detecting device, where the information represents dimension and weight of the postal package. Postal charge to be paid for delivering the postal package is determined according to measure of the detected information, and the postal package is forwarded to a receiver. A pre-assembled franking note (103') is attached to the postal package, and the information is attached to the postal package by marking fields (201a-201c) of the pre-assembled note. An independent claim is also included for a device for delivering a postal package, comprising a detecting device.
