The invention relates to a device for managing the battery charge status of a vehicle (SOC i ) including a hybrid power train, means for measuring the battery charge status and means for controlling the hybrid power train according to a first so-called normal control law which imposes a first charge status set value (SOC mnormal ). The device also includes means for acquiring the geographical co-ordinates of final destinations (position F) for which the vehicle is switched to parking mode, means for calculating the distance separating the vehicle from the final destination, means acting on the hybrid power train control means when said distance falls below a pre-determined distance (d) in order to apply a second so-called specific control law which imposes a drop in the charge status so as to reach a charge status value below a second set value (SOC mspecific ) below the first set value (SOC mnormal ). The device also includes learning means for storing parking mode positions (F). The invention also relates to a charge status management method.
