The invention relates to a device for connecting a base pipe (6) to a pole (4) by way of a first sleeve part (12) for fixation to the base pipe (6), and a second sleeve part (14) for receiving a pole (4) in a movable and rotatable manner, wherein the second sleeve part (14) is designed as a clamping sleeve. In order to make the device suitable for poles having different diameters, the clamping sleeve has detent means (20) for receiving and axially fixing a radially deformable cylindrical insert sleeve (22).
