A method and device for controlling the operating mode of a household electrical appliance, and an intelligent household electrical appliance controller. The method comprises: extracting a narrow-band power line carrier communication PLC signal from the power grid (101); converting the narrow-band PLC signal into a logic level TTL (102); determining information about the current electricity price in the power grid from the TTL level (103); converting the information about the electricity price in the power grid into a control command corresponding to the household electrical appliance (104); and sending the control command to a control interface of the corresponding household electrical appliance, in order to control the household electrical appliance so that it enters a corresponding operating mode (105). The method can automatically control the household electrical appliance depending on the change in the loading of the power grid, thus improving the utilization efficiency of energy.
