SATELLITE TELECOMMUNICATIONS USING A COMPUTER SYSTEM ADAPTED FOR HARSH ENVIRONMENTS

A satellite communication system is disclosed that allows for increased bandwidth. In one embodiment, at least two satellite antennas are used. The satellite antennas are typically portable and can be carried by a user to remote areas. A portable computer system can be used and coupled to the satellite antennas via wired or wireless connection. The portable computer system can be adapted for news coverage and can, therefore, receive a live audio and video feed. A multiplexer can be used to divide the audio and video data streams into multiple data streams for transmission over the satellite antennas. The audio and video feeds are transmitted with increased bandwidth due to the use of multiple- satellite antennas transmitting in parallel.
