Intelligent music track selection in a networked environment

An indication is provided of a state of a body of content, the body of content including at least a portion of a track, the indication being updated based on a user's interaction with the content, the state of the body of content including information about the user's preferences with respect to the body of content. In the endpoint playback device, tracks of the body of content, received across a network from a server, are cached each an amount of track which depends on the likelihood of a user choosing that track to be the next track to be played.
