PURPOSE: A pulmonary vessel extraction method for automatic disease detection using chest CT images is provided to solve a problem in which an image interpretation is varied with respect to the subjective characteristic of a doctor due to undistinguishable images, thereby providing accurate and rapid diagnosis information. CONSTITUTION: A lung region which is a target region of a pulmonary vessel extraction method is determined from a chest CT image(S100). A pulmonary vessel region is determined by applying a binary-coding technique in original image data of the determined lung region in the previous step(S210). A skeleton line of a blood vessel is arranged through a line thinning process(S200). The vessel topology of the connected skeleton lines is comprised by distinguishing a skeleton line crossing point and unit skeleton line in skeleton line composition data(S300). The thickness of the blood vessel is analyzed in order to re-classify tuberous candidates(S400).
