PURPOSE: Scarfing device and method with an automatic detecting function on the non-scarfing area of a casting piece are provided to uniformly enhance the surface quality of a product regardless of the skill of a worker since a scarfing operation on the non-scarfing area detected as well as the detection of the non-scarfing area are rapidly performed.;CONSTITUTION: A scarfing device with an automatic detecting function on the non-scarfing area of a casting piece comprises a body(110), a sensing unit(120), and a operation control unit(130). The body comprises a scarfing torch(116). The body travels along a route set on the surface of the casting piece. The sensing unit is formed on the body. The sensing unit measures the height data from the surface of the casting piece. The calculation control unit receives the height data measured, compares it with a reference value and determined a non-scarfing area.
