GLASS AND A GLASS PLATE FOR A DISPLAY DEVICE CAPABLE OF INCREASING THE FRACTURE TOUGHNESS VALUE OF THE GLASS

PURPOSE: Glass and a glass plate for a display device are provided to obtain sufficient intensity of the glass through a chemical reinforcing operation by optimizing the content of Al_2O_3 and the ratio of Li_2O/R_2O.;CONSTITUTION: Glass for a display device includes 61-72% of SiO_2, 8-17% of Al_2O_3, 6-18% of Li_2O, 2-15% of Na_2O, 0-8% of K_2O, 0-6% of MgO, 0-6% of CaO, 0-4% of TiO_2, and 0-2.5% of ZrO_2. The sum of the Li_2O, the Na_2O, and the K_2O is R_2O and is between 15 and 25%. The ratio of the Li_2O and the R_2O(Li_2O/R_2O) is between 0.35 and 0.8. The sum of the MgO and the CaO is between 0 and 9%. The fracture toughness value of the glass is more than or equal to 0.85MPa·m^1/2.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
