PURPOSE: An automatic and semi-automatic edging machine is provided to prevent damage to a pattern or blank lens or the reduction of micro workability of the blank lens by securing intellectual mobility of a guide unit. CONSTITUTION: An automatic and semi-automatic edging machine(100) comprises a fixing shaft(110) which presses and fixes a blank lens(2), a carriage(120) which supports the fixing shaft and moves up and down and right and left, a pattern fixing unit(130) which fixes a pattern to the part of the fixing shaft exposed out of the carriage, a guide unit(150) which is formed in a part under the pattern and supports the pattern rotated by the rotation of the fixing shaft, a wheel(170) which grinds the blank lens, and a controller which includes a patternless processing module and a pattern processing module. The patternless processing module receives shape information from a data generator and controls the movement of the carriage to process a blank lens according to the shape information. The pattern processing module controls the movement of the carriage to process a blank lens into the same shape as the pattern.
