PURPOSE: A frequency diversity based MAC architecture for a wireless sensor network and an operating method for the same are provided to efficiently operate an FD-MAC based on a cross layer. CONSTITUTION: In the administration section, all nodes are operated in a slotted CSMA(Carrier Sense Multi Access) mode in the same channel. In an inactive/reserved access period(130), the nodes exchanges data and authentication with a channel which is negotiated in the administration section. Therefore, the transmission delay problem can be solved and the transmission reliability can be increased.
