PURPOSE: TiAlN coating for a glass forming die and a tool is provided to offer a cost-efficient material system, which is chemically inactive at high forming temperatures, for precision glass forming.;CONSTITUTION: TiAlN coating for a glass forming die and a tool relates to a chemically inactive material system for precision glass forming. The material system comprises a base material having a micro component less than 1.2 weight% and a coating material including TiAlxNy, where x is about 0.7-1.5 and y is about 2.0-3.0.
