PURPOSE: A control device for automatically classifying ordered books for creating marc data and a method thereof are provided to control open and close of a book sorter gate according to an order number of the book in order to settle the books in the right position. CONSTITUTION: A control device for automatically classifying ordered books for creating marc data comprises a matching information storage unit(100) and a book sorter gate controlling unit(200). The matching information storage unit matches a gate number of a specific book sorter to each digit place of a book order number and stores the matched information. If book classification command is inputted, the book sorter gate controlling unit searches a gate number of the book sorter matching the number corresponding to each digit place in matching information storage. After that, the book sorter gate controlling unit opens the book sorter gate corresponding to the gate number.
