PURPOSE: A default detecting method and apparatus of an automatic metering system are provided to easily detect a default power usage customer.;CONSTITUTION: A default detecting method of an automatic metering system comprises a standard pattern generation part(50), a power use pattern generation part(60), a variation correction part(70), and a default detection part(100). The standard pattern generation part extracts the past power use amount of a customer and defines a standard pattern according to contract classification, purpose, and industrial classification. The power use pattern generation part creates a power use pattern of an individual customer. The variation correction part corrects deviation of the standard pattern. The default detection part extracts target customer as a default power usage customer when deviation between the power use pattern of the individual customer and the standard pattern exceeds a standard value.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
