PURPOSE: A non-destructive method for diagnosing the service life of an aged overhead power cable is provided to enable the convenient diagnosis of the service life of an overhead power cable by measuring hardness having correlation with the tensile strength of the overhead power cable.;CONSTITUTION: A non-destructive method for diagnosing the service life of an aged overhead power cable is as follows. The hardness of an overhead power cable for a test is measured. The soundness and service life estimation data are extracted from correlation with the tensile strength of the overhead power cable. The hardness of an actual overhead power cable is measured through the extracted data.
