PURPOSE: A thermal paper roll, an image forming device, an image forming method, and a program are provided to notify maintenance for exchanging a thermal paper roll to users by detecting residual amount of the thermal paper roll.;CONSTITUTION: A thermal paper roll(10) comprises a paper core(11), a thermal paper(12), a flange, and a contact surface(30). The thermal paper is wound around the paper core. The flange is attached at least one end part of the paper core. In order to detect or distinguish the thermal paper roll state, the contact surface is formed on a plane surface of the flange opposite side of the paper core. The contact surface is formed with a convex surface or a recessed surface to detect rotating state of the thermal paper roll.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
