PURPOSE: A method for supporting location update registration process in machine to machine communication system and an apparatus thereof are provided to define an update.;CONSTITUTION: When a terminal supports an idle mode, a network entity determines whether the terminal supports a long paging period(205,207). When the terminal supports the long paging period, the network entity applies a suitable time based location update registration timer for the terminal(209). The network entity sets a paging period of the terminal.
