PURPOSE: A starting air system and an operating method for a main generator of a dps-3 ship are provided to have an effect, in which an extra space by reducing a quantity of compressors of a main generator is utilized.;CONSTITUTION: A starting air system and an operating method for a main generator of a dps-3 ship comprises a starting air compressor of a main generator(10), a plurality of starting air storages of the main generator(20), and one or more the main generator(30). The starting air compressor of the main generator is arranged in two main generator rooms(R) respectively. A plurality of starting air storages of the main generator is arranged in each main generator room. A plurality of starting air storages of the main generator is connected to each starting air compressor of the main generator to be supplied with compressed air. One or more main generators are arranged in the main generator room.
