PURPOSE: A composition containing Selaginellae Herba extract is provided to prevent and/or treat osteoporosis. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating osteoporosis contains Selaginellae Herba extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared by adding water to Selaginellae Herba and performing hot water extraction at 70-100C. A health food for preventing or treating osteoporosis contains the extract as an active ingredient, extracted using water or organic solvent. The organic solvent includes alcohol of C1-C4, acetone, or solution thereof.
