CRASHWORTHINESS DEVICE FOR LANDING GEAR OF THE HELICOPTER

PURPOSE: A crashworthy apparatus for a helicopter is provided to prevent secondary damage due to a landing gear in a crash of a helicopter by installing the crashworthy apparatus, which is operated by internal pressure of a buffer unit for a landing unit, in the upper part of the landing unit. CONSTITUTION: A crashworthy apparatus for a helicopter comprises a main fitting(7), a piston, a lock lever(2), a shear pin, a release lever(5), and a detach link(6). The main fitting is installed in the upper part of a landing unit(8). The piston is installed in the upper part of the main fitting. If internal pressure of the main fitting increases, the piston is risen. The lock lever is installed in the upper part of the piston. The shear pin is installed in one end of the lock lever. If excessive pressure is applied to the lock lever, the shear pin is destroyed. The release lever is rotatably installed around a rotary shaft. A supporting part is formed in the upper part of the release lever and a link support part is formed in the lower part. One end of the detach link is connected to a drag stay and a holding part is formed in the other end so that the detach link can be locked by the link support part of the release lever.
